Zulu chief backs Zimbabwean white farmer against eviction notice

A Zulu chief descended from warriors who conquered vast tracts of land before the arrival of British settlers in Zimabwe has come to the defence of a white couple who are being threatened with eviction from their tourist lodge.

Carol Davies, a white farmer who was forced to give up the vast majority of the 12,000-acre farm that her grandfather founded two generations ago, is fighting to keep control of the newly-renovated game lodge on top of a sacred mountain in what remains of her land.

Mrs Davies went to the High Court in Bulawayo this week to try and stop her eviction and is being supported by Chief Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni, head of the largest tribal area in Zimbabwe, who believes…
