Sunday: Bordeaux vs Bastia (13:00 GMT)
Struggling Bordeaux will be hoping the sacking of Willy Sagnol and the installation of Ulrich Rame can change their fortunes on the field as they take on Bastia at the Matmut Atlantique. The hosts have been far from their best all season, but now find themselves 15th in the table and just five points above the relegation zone with eight games remaining. They suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Toulouse in their last outing.
Bastia, meanwhile, are three places and one point better off than their opponents this weekend, but are also too close to comfort to the bottom three. Three straight league wins in January saw Bastia rise as high as 10th, but a loss to Lille last time out leaves Francois Ciccolini’s men once again in an uncomfortable position.
Earlier this season, Bastia beat Bordeaux 1-0 at the Stade Armand Cesari.
Sunday: Nice vs Gazelec Ajaccio (16:00 GMT)
Nice will be aiming to keep up the pressure on Monaco as they face Gazelec Ajaccio at the Allianz Riviera. The hosts currently sit fifth in the standings, but will leap back into third with a win and could move even closer to Monaco in second if Leonardo Jardim’s side drop points against PSG later on in the day. Nice have won their last two league outings, beating Troyes and Montpellier over the last couple of weeks.
Gazelec Ajaccio, though, are in trouble. A 10 game winless run in the league saw them plummet down the table, and although they did manage to claim a victory last weekend against Caen, they still find themselves outside the bottom three on goal difference only.
Earlier this season, however, Gazelec Ajaccio beat Nice 3-1 at the Stade Ange Casanova.
Sunday: PSG vs Monaco (20:00 GMT)
Champions-once-again PSG can celebrate their achievement in front of their own fans this Sunday as they tackle Monaco at the Parc des Princes. This normally big game has been somewhat spoiled by the fact PSG no longer have anything to play for, but Monaco will head to the capital fully focussed on the match.
The visitors currently sit second in the table, but face huge competition for that spot from the likes of Lyon, Rennes and Nice. If the visitors are to claim runners-up position, not to mention an automatic Champions League qualification spot, then they can’t afford many slip-ups. The good news for them then, is that this may be the perfect time to come up against the champions.
