Two of the top contenders to the NXT Championship faced off in last night’s main event.
On the first episode of NXT since TakeOver: WarGames and Survivor Series, Tommaso Ciampa took on Finn Balor. NXT Champion Adam Cole interfered, with Balor then hitting the 1916 DDT to get the win.
But — as Cole was patting Balor on the back after the match — Balor laid out Cole with a Pele kick.
The Undisputed Era defended their titles against Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic in the opening match of the night, but it was Roderick Strong who ended up teaming with Kyle O’Reilly for almost all of the match after Bobby Fish had to be replaced due to injury.
After turning heel at TakeOver, Dakota Kai faced Candice LeRae last night. Rhea Ripley also appeared and set her sights on Shayna Baszler’s NXT Women’s Championship.
