Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson welcome us to Full Sail University for this week’s episode of NXT on the WWE Network. Tonight Ricochet and Velveteen Dream will attempt to co-exist as they team up in a big handicap match against the yellow brand’s resident monster, Lars Sullivan.
HEAVY MACHINERY vs. TM61
Things did not look good for TM61 from the start, as the big men quickly took control and easily manhandled their opponents around the ring like ragdolls. At one point Nick Miller got wedged in the corner with his feet spread apart, and they literally tossed Shane like a lawn dart straight into his partner. Wow.
The beatdown went on for what felt like forever, but eventually the Australians managed to get some momentum rolling and isolated Tucker for several minutes. They alternated in with quick tags and lit him up with basic offense; strikes and kicks, rights and lefts, keeping him off his feet as much as humanly possible. They made the mistake of trying to suplex the big man and Knight took them both down in an impressive handicap suplex spot, before making the hot tag to his partner. Doz came in like a bull in a china shop and it looked like Heavy Machinery had it in the bag until Miller sent Knight crashing into the post on the outside. TM61 managed to distract Doz and roll him up to steal another win with their feet on the ropes.
Winners: TM61
– Next week we’ll see an in-depth look at the “EST of NXT” Bianca Belair.
– They ran a vignette for EC3 claiming to be the “golden goose” of the NXT brand. They’re hyping up his next match, but we don’t get an exact timetable on when that’ll actually be.
KAIRI SANE vs. LACEY EVANS
Kairi scored with a savage dropkick right to the face as soon as the bell rang, but Evans came right back and brawled with her into the ropes, delivering a wicked chop that echoed around the building. Sane screamed at her in Japanese before yelling “COME ON!” baiting her opponent into a variation on the Destino for a two-count. Lacey looked dazed but got a fistful of hair and threw her down on the mat, slowing things down with a side headlock. These two are NOT fond of each other.
The crowd worked Sane back into the match and she tried to break free, but Evans saw it coming and threw her hard into the second turnbuckle before going right back to the side headlock. This time she was smarter and varied the hold a bit more, stretching the neck and back while hammering away with fists to the side. Once again Kairi battled back and shook off the hold with a suplex, firing off with running kicks and a huge, explosive spear. She stomped her way to the corner and teased the sliding elbow strike in the corner… connecting big time!
Lacey rolled to the floor looking to take a breather and collect herself, but the Pirate Princess came flying off the ring steps out of nowhere to take her down with an elbow strike to the back of the head. They rolled back in the ring and Kairi mounted the top rope looking to put the match away, but Evans caught her out of the air with a nasty right hook to the jaw. I guess she calls that the Women’s Right. 1…2…3.
Winner: Lacey Evans
