WWE Live Peoria Results 4/24

The WWE Live tour stop Monday opened with an RKO out of nowhere in a WWE Championship triple threat match at Peoria Civic Center.
WWE Champion Randy Orton Defeats Baron Corbin, AJ Styles
Corbin wasted little time in trying to make this a one-on-one match by tossing Styles out of the ring. The Apex Predator quickly gained the upper hand, though, getting Corbin to the mat and stomping on his fingers and knees. Orton and Styles then teamed up to dropkick Corbin out of the ring.

After Orton nearly got Styles to tap on a headlock on the mat, the Phenomenal One sidekicked Orton to the head. Just as Styles was loading up for the Phenomenal Forearm on the ropes, Corbin grabbed Styles by the ankles and yanked him onto the floor outside the ring.
With the crowd booing him the whole way, Corbin asserted dominance with a clothesline that nearly took the head off Orton, who had dropped Styles neck-first onto the crowd barricade outside of the ring. Corbin also powerbombed both Orton and Styles off the top rope.
But the Viper is a 13-time champion for a reason, and he made the most of flurry of close calls at the end of the match. With Styles poised to hit Corbin with a Phenomenal Foream, the Lone Wolf caused Styles to lose his balance and fall off the ropes out of the ring, but walked right into an RKO out of nowhere as the champ retained the title.
Breezango Defeats The Ascension

Viktor and Konnor roughed up the Fashion Police most of the match as Tyler Breeze faced numerous double teams.
Konnor scored three near pinfalls on Breeze after a series of clotheslines, a running hip shot into Breeze’s side and a double team powerbomb.
After Viktor tagged into the action, Breeze got free and struggled his way to tag in Fandango, who cleared house. Fandango clobbered both Viktor and Konnor with running clotheslines and then after knocking Konnor to the ground Fandango landed a spinning heel kick to drop Viktor for the pin.

Mojo Rawley Defeats Aiden English
After English pointed at a small girl holding up a sign that said “bum,” the crowd rained down bum chants on English the entire match.
English enjoyed the early momentum with a splash into the corner turnbuckle and a spinning neckbreaker which got a two count.
Mojo turned the corner when English tried a suplex, landing a suplex of his own. The Hype Bro then led the crowd in “you’re a bum” chants as he hit two shoulder blocks, a running clothesline and a corner splash before ramming a full-speed shoulder to send English cartwheeling to the mat for the win.
Jinder Mahal Ambushes Mojo Rawley
As Mojo was celebrating with some high-fives to kids in the ringside seats, Mahal charged down the ramp and waylaid Mojo.
Boos rained down on the new No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship as he mocked chants of U-S-A from the crowd. He then confirmed a title match with Orton at Backlash, the next SmackDown Live pay-per-view on May 21 in Chicago. Mahal claimed he’d take the title from Orton in the Windy City.
Tag Team Champs The Usos Defeat American Alpha
Jimmy Uso didn’t make any friends with the Peoria crowd, pretending to hand a jacket to a fan before dropping it on the floor outside of the ring and dabbing several time in the fan’s direction.
The Usos controlled the match pretty much from start to finish, with Chad Gable taking most of the punishment. Jey Uso landed two big bodyslams which echoed throughout the arena after Jimmy had used his size to physically wear down Gable with a series of headlocks, clotheslines and punches.
Justin Jordan tried to rally the challengers when he tagged, hitting suplexes on both Jimmy and Jey. Jordan seemed to have Jey down for the count, but Jimmy scrambled into the ring for the save.
American Alpha’s upset big couldn’t survive another round of punishment on Gable, who was trying to land a top rope maneuver when Jimmy reached up from outside the ring and drove Gable’s head into the turnbuckle. A dazed Gable then ran into a dropkick from Jey, who earned the three count to retain the titles.
Shinsuke Nakamura Defeats Dolph Ziggler

It looked like the Showoff was too damn good for most of the match, keeping the King of Strong Style grounded on the mat with several headlocks which made it hard for Nakamura to breathe.
Ziggler harassed the pro-Nakamura crowd most of the match, saying “he’s done” and at one point asking the referee, “is the sleeper hold one of my finishers?”
To further degrade the rising newcomer from NXT, Ziggler at one point did a headstand while having Nakamura in a headlock on the mat.
But Ziggler’s taunts caught up with him as Nakamura rallied with a spinning heelkick to the head while Dolph was teasing the crowd. Nakamura then finished with furious flurry of moves, hitting two knee kicks to the chest, a turnbuckle splash, a jumping knee to the face on the ropes and was seemingly cruising.
However, Ziggler put a scare in the crowd when he hit a Famouser out of nowhere, but, after kicking out, Nakamura flipped Ziggler over his back and then hit Kinchasa to finish off the Showoff.
Luke Harper Defeats Erick Rowan
Rowan opened the bizarre match by bringing a sack full of balloons to the ring. After he picked out a child at ringside to give the balloons, he promptly popped all of them in the kid’s face.
Rowan pressed the advantage most of the match between the former members of the Wyatt family. He scored several near pinfalls of a tilt-a-whirl slam, a side slam and a spinning heelkick.
Harper, with help from the crowd clapping for him, reversed the momentum with a body slam, a big boot and discus clothesline for the victory.
After the match, Harper picked up the child who Rowan had terrorized and took a selfie with the kid, sticking his tongue out and crossing his eyes for the picture.
Women’s Champ Naomi Defeats Natalya, Tamina, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair
A decidedly pro Flair crowd couldn’t help the Queen win the belt away from the champ in the six-pack SmackDown Women’s Championship match.
The melee began with Natalya locked up with Tamina, Naomi smacking around Carmella and Charlotte and Becky in dueling headlocks.
Charlotte and Natalya teamed up to hand out some punishment to Becky, but the partnership ended when Becky ducked a Flair knife-edge chop which landed squarely on Natalya’s chest. The match mostly went back and forth with each competitor gaining an edge, and with most of the combatants outside the ring.
Naomi almost won the match twice, but interference from James Ellsworth saved Carmella both times. As Naomi was loading up for the Rear View, Ellsworth tripped her near the ropes while Carmella had the referee’s attention. Later on, Naomi had Carmella tapping out with a chinlock, but Ellsworth grabbed the referee to keep his attention away from the submission.
Naomi finally retained the title by landing the Rear View on Natalya, who was trying to get Lynch to tap out in the Sharpshooter.
Main Event – US Champ Kevin Owens Defeats Sami Zayn
KO ambushed Zayn during the ring entrance introductions and dominated the match with only one brief burst from Zayn.
The United States Champion had Zayn down on the mat several times with sleeper holds and headlocks. He also hit a cannonball which nearly ended the match.Owens taunted the crowd throughout, teasing a boy with a red mohawk to “get a haircut, kid” and yelling at a fan chanting U-S-A that Zayne “is a Canadian, you idiot.”
When KO attempted a second cannonball, Zayn got his knees up just in time to drive them into Owens’ back. With Owens writhing in pain, Zayn went to the top rope and hit a crossbody which got a two-count. His best chance for the win came after hitting a Blue Thunder Bomb, reversing out of Owens’ attempt at his finisher.
However, Owens didn’t take long after kicking out to hit the Pop-Up Powerbomb to seal the deal. Then he took to the microphone to try to force the audience “to pledge their allegiance to greatest United States Champion ever – a Canadian.” As Owens was busy antagonizing the crowd, Zayn bounced up to hit KO with a Helluva Kick to end the show.
