UK Series Update: Taping Schedule, Live Events, Talent Re-Sign

It looks as though WWE will be proceeding onward with their new United Kingdom Championship series. There was some fear that the new series had either been cancelled, or was going to be nixed eventually due to the low viewership of 205 Live, which was the last big project that the company had. It is possible that the new show could replace 205 Live once it arrives, but that doesn’t appear to be happening either. When the series will officially begin taping has not yet been confirmed, but the plans to have tapings does appear to be back on.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reported earlier that the company will likely shoot multiple episodes in one night every six weeks once they do get started. Once the show is off the ground, WWE would like to begin running live events twice a month in the United Kingdom. Vince McMahon has revealed in the past that he would like run live events for 205 Live someday, but that doesn’t seem likely if the viewership continues to stay low. Running live events is part of WWE’s strategy to turn each of their shows into a complete and touring brand. The new show will probably feature both new and familiar United Kingdom superstars once it finally begins taping soon.
Some of the talent that will be used for the show has also been revealed courtesy of Pro Wrestling Sheet. It appears that Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne, Wolfgang, Mark Andrews, and Trent Seven has all signed new deals with WWE that will allow them to work in the Performance Center, but those five wrestlers will be primarily working in the UK anyway. It’s safe to assume that most of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament competitors will be signed to the new series, but WWE also likely has their sights set on signing other UK talent from ICW or PROGRESS Wrestling. The series will hopefully begin taping soon, but nothing has been announced as of yet.
