The Miz has laid claim to the Intercontinental Championship.
WWE’s resident A-Lister took to the ring tonight on Smackdown Live to officially lay down a challenge for the title, currently held by Shinsuke Nakamura, at the September 15 Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
Miz claimed that while he held the belt during his 8 reigns as champion, he elevated the Intercontinental Championship to the highest heights of this era, while Nakamura has largely done nothing since winning it back in July.
Things quickly took a turn for the worse on Smackdown Live, as The Miz was attacked by the King of Strong-Style and his new mouthpiece, Sami Zayn, who chirped insistently on a microphone during the entire one-sided beating.
