Fans have been speculating that Camila Cabello, 22, and Shawn Mendes, 21, are more than just friends for quite some time now.
The Havana singer split up with her boyfriend of 18 months, 32-year-old dating coach and YouTuber Matthew Hussey, in June. Following the split from Hussey, Cabello and Mendes were spotted getting cosy, and even kissing, on numerous occasions.
Mendes and Cabello, who recently collaborated on the new hit single Señorita, reportedly enjoyed beach dates in Malibu, a Blink-182 concert and a coffee date in Florida, as well as a PDA-filled day in San Francisco. However, until now, neither Mendes nor Cabello have commented on the status of their relationship.
Now, in celebration of Mendes’s 21st birthday on August 8, Cabello has made the relationship Instagram official. Taking to the platform with a throwback photo of herself and the Mercy singer, Cabello professed her love for Mendes.
“Happy birthday to this magic human, I love you!!!!️️️️” she captioned the image.
People reports that Cabello also attended her beau’s birthday bash, which took place at 1 Hotel in New York City. Videos from the party have since surfaced showing Mendes pulling Cabello in for a kiss as family and friends cheered the pair on.
Per Just Jared Jr., the couple were photographed holding hands as they made their way to meet Mendes’s parents for dinner in Brooklyn the following day.
It’s also worth noting that the pair have been close friends for a while. In a recent interview with Clash, Cabello confirmed this: “I think I’ve actually known him the longest out of anybody in the music industry — we’ve been in each other’s lives for, like, four or five years, and it’s been really beautiful to kinda grow up together.”
“It’s actually a really beautiful feeling to know that this person is always going to be in my life; we’re always going to love each other,” she added.
