ORLANDO, FL — If you’re wondering how to get to Sesame Street “where the air is sweet,” it turns out it’s right off Sea World Drive in Orlando.
Sesame Street officially landed at SeaWorld Orlando Wednesday with the official opening of a new 6-acre theme area. Patch brings you a photo gallery of Florida’s newest attraction.
Park spokeswoman Lori Cherry told Patch that the new Sesame Street attraction took just under a year to complete, but the cost of the project will not be disclosed.
The land features the iconic Sesame Street neighborhood, including Abby Cadabby’s Garden, Big Bird’s Nest, Mr. Hooper’s Store and the famous 123 Stoop as well as the Sesame Street characters.
Cherry said admission to Sesame Street is included in daily park admission to SeaWorld Orlando. The Sesame Street land is the largest inside any SeaWorld park and part of Sesame Street’s 50th anniversary celebration.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome guests to walk down Sesame Street for the very first time in the theme park capital of the world,” said SeaWorld Orlando President Mark Pauls. “With over 30 new ways to play and an award-winning parade, this is a new land that guests of all ages will love and we are excited to share it with the world.”
Scott Chambers of the nonprofit group Sesame Workshop said he hopes the new attraction will provide “deeper connections” with more families.
Elmo’s Window invites visitors to play, dance and sing while Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck Challenge allows kids of all ages to whip up delicious meals with Cookie Monster and Gonger.
Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando also features six colorful, themed rides: Abby’s Flower Tower, Cookie Drop!, Slimey’s Slider, Big Bird’s Twirl ‘n’ Whirl, Elmo’s Choo Choo Train and Super Grover’s Box Car Derby as well as the Rubber Duckie Water Works wet play area.
Scheduled daily offerings in the neighborhood include Storytime with Big Bird at his nest and the Sesame Street Party Parade. The attraction boasts Elmo, Big Bird and all of their Sesame Street friends as well as colorful floats and surprises.
No visit to a Florida attraction would be complete without a bite to eat or gift shop. Sesame Street serves up fun favorites at Eats on the Street with food trucks and a specialty drink stand. Mr. Hooper’s Store offers plush characters, apparel, collectible pins, and other merchandise, including Elmo’s Interactive Light-Up Bubble Wand that promises to unlock hidden surprises, special effects and exclusive content throughout Sesame Street.
