The New Day made WWE history on at midnight on Monday night when they finally broke Demolition’s long-standing record and became the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history.
Of course, it hasn’t been an easy record reign for the trio having fought it out against the likes of Gallows and Anderson, Enzo and Cass and more recently Cesaro and Sheamus. But Monday night they were forced to work for that record reign when they were put in a triple threat tag team match against Jeri-KO and Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
The New Day came out on top and were officially recognised as the longest reigning Tag Team Champions the following day, but they were also told that Sheamus and Cesaro will now be their opponents on Sunday night at RoadBlock after they won the number one contenders match at this year’s Tribute To The Troops event.
Even though this looks like a straightforward victory for the Champions, recent rumours suggest that WWE has been planning to have New Day drop the titles as soon as possible and that Sunday night would be the perfect place for them to do it.
This could mean that Cesaro and Sheamus will walk out of RoadBlock: End Of The Line as the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
