L’Équipe report tonight that Rennes have turned down an opening bid worth below the €10m mark from Bayern Munich for young striker Mathys Tel.
RMC Sport had initially reported yesterday that the Bundesliga champions had entered talks with the Breton club over the 17-year-old, who has made 7 appearances in Ligue 1 this year. He also has three goals in his two French youth cup games this campaign.
Sky Germany reported that a €7m bid had been made, with L’Équipe’s sources confirming that the bid was below €10m. Rennes are not looking to sell their forward, who is still under contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Last year’s 4th-place Ligue 1 finishers will only let go of the forward if an exceptional offer comes in, which is ostensibly not the case with Bayern’s opening bid. Tel is also a French youth international, having recently been crowned U17 European champions after a 2-1 win in the final over the Netherlands.
