PSG Sporting Director Leonardo confirmed to media yesterday that Neymar would not be involved in today’s Ligue 1 clash with Nîmes, confirming “more advanced discussions than before,” for the player’s possible transfer.
As reported by a myriad of outlets, Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in the battle to sign the Brazilian, as the Catalan giants continue to lack the necessary hard cash that PSG are looking for in order to part with their superstar.
L’Équipe this morning cites the closeness between Real Madrid and PSG presidents Florentino Perez and Nasser Al-Khelaifi as a reason why the deal could be a goer, as well as the former’s desire to sign a highly marketable asset this summer and to deprive his La Liga rivals from landing the Brazilian.
The outlet goes on to affirm that Kaylor Navas, Gareth Bale, Isco and James Rodriguez could all be part exchange options in an eventual deal.
A source contacted about the state of negotiations stressed the lack of current clarity that continues to exist: “Nothing is done and everything is possible.”
Either way, this is a problem that PSG need to resolve – and fast.
