It was a big day for kids in the United Kingdom yesterday with school back in session for the new year and no one looked more thrilled and excited to be heading back to the hallowed halls of learning or starting their educational journey than Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The young royals are attending Thomas’s Battersea school in London and while Prince George has been a student at the school since September 2017 — he is in year two this year — it was Princess Charlotte’s very first day at Thomas’s Battersea.

To mark this big milestone both Kate Middleton and Prince William were on hand to bring Princess Charlotte and Prince George to school on their first day. Kensington Palace posted a cute video of the foursome walking into the school and being greeted by a teacher.
Following that, Kensington Palace has now also released a first day of school portrait of the siblings, Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four, in their uniforms on the steps of Kensington Palace before heading to Thomas’s Battersea.
In the portrait both Prince George and Princess Charlotte show off big toothy grins, looking absolutely delighted to be returning to Thomas’s Battersea and starting there, respectively.
Dressed in their smart uniforms of navy, white and red, the royal siblings look like any other siblings in their obligatory first day of school photo.
According to The Sun, no one is allowed to have a best friend at Thomas’s Battersea so that everyone feels included, and from the first day at school the curriculum includes art, ballet, drama, music and sport. French is also reportedly taught once a week even at Princess Charlotte’s year level of Reception.
Aside from the best friends rule (a rule all the kids at Thomas’s Battersea must adhere to), the royals are reportedly treated just like the other kids and are known as Charlotte Cambridge and George Cambridge at school.
