Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal were originally scheduled to do battle at the Survivor Series pay-per-view this Sunday. That match was altered when Jinder Mahal lost the WWE Championship to AJ Styles on Smackdown not too long ago. Styles will now face Lesnar instead, but it sounds as though Jinder will still have a role in the match. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported recently that Jinder Mahal will likely interfere and cost Styles the match. This makes sense as it makes the WWE Champion’s loss seem less devastating since someone interfered, and it also keeps Brock Lesnar looking dominant as he heads into his rumored match against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania in 2018.
It was reported recently that Paige would be returning on Raw to take the final spot on the Raw women’s team at Survivor Series. Fans were shocked when Paige did not end up joining the team and was nowhere to be found on the show on Monday night. The Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer now says that there were never any plans for her to return on Raw and that Paige will not be coming back to WWE until after Survivor Series. Paige posted photos of herself backstage at Raw, but she may have been there to get reacquainted with some friends and management. There is a spot remaining on the Smackdown women’s team at Survivor Series, but there is no word on who will claim that spot.
Matt Hardy’s “Broken” gimmick proved to be one of the most inventive and beloved gimmicks in wrestling when it was created last year. A legal battle between Impact Wrestling and Matt Hardy with both sides claiming ownership of the character has prevented Matt from using the gimmick outside of the company. PWInsider has reported that a trademark for the “Broken” character submitted by Matt will be published for opposition on December 19th. This means that Impact has thirty days to file their opposition for the trademark. If that does not happen, then it will be assigned to Hardy for him to use in WWE or wherever he chooses.
