Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone following OGC Nice’s 1-0 victory over Montpellier this afternoon, club president Gauthier Ganaye appeared to close the door on Britain’s richest man Jim Ratcliffe and his attempts to purchase the club from Chien Lee.
“We did not learn much. We learned that someone wants to buy the club, that the current owner did not want to sell… there would not have been much information around it had the public not discovered the name of the person behind it all. There was no desire to communicate about it because he (Lee) has said it and repeated it, they are here for the long-term… One should wonder about the timing and whether the people writing these articles have the club’s interest at heart. We were two days away from an important match in our season. That is the only question I have around it.”
