NJPW President Updates New Japan World Subscriber Count Following Dominion

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s new president Harold Meij recently spoke with The Mainichi and provided an update on the number of subscribers currently signed up for their streaming service. According to Mr. Meij, New Japan World is holding steady at around 100,000 members, with an estimated 40,000 subscriptions coming from outside of Japan.

In 2017 following Wrestle Kingdom 11 it was reported that subscriptions were hovering around 60,000 with 15,000 coming from outside of Japan. After Wrestle Kingdom 12 this January they were reported around 95,000. While that might not look like a look of growth over the past six months, the reality is that numbers likely dropped in between major events, and shot way back up for the Okada/Omega rematch at NJPW Dominion in June.

At 100,000 subscribers, the company is taking in about $902,000 every month, or a little more than $10.8 million annually. Of course that’s assuming the number holds steady all year long, which is likely not the case.
