Some of WWE’s most beloved stars are currently on the shelf with injuries at the moment. It was just confirmed earlier this week that Sami Zayn will be out of action for the rest of the year, and PWInsider has now reported that he is back at home in Florida recovering from surgery. They also noted that Smackdown Superstar Randy Orton is currently visiting Birmingham, Alabama to have his injured knee examined by doctors. As for NXT General Manager William Regal, who has not appeared on the show since April and again missed the NXT TV tapings last night due to a reported health issue, WWE has still not deemed him healthy enough to return to television and he may still be away for a few more weeks.
The United Kingdom Championship Tournament was taped by WWE earlier this week, and even though it has been almost impossible for fans to avoid spoilers for the show, the tournament will be uploaded to the network within just a couple of days. The shows coming this week will cover the second round and finals of the tournament, but fans who were not in the UK to witness the first round matches are in luck. WWE uploaded a marathon of all of the first round matches from the tournament on their YouTube channel at 12pm ET this past Friday. All of the first round matches total up to about an hour and a half running time, so for anybody interested in checking out the first round of the tournament, the full video can be viewed down below:
When rumors claiming that Ring of Honor were in talks to host an event at Madison Square Garden in 2019 were first reported a few weeks ago, fans were interested to see if the promotion would really be coming to the venue. ROH’s Joe Koff has since informed fans that those negotiations have fallen through, however, Mexico’s AAA could still be coming to “The Garden” very soon. Per a report from PWInsider, AAA does still have two active holds on the arena that has held some of WWE’s most famous events. One date is for September 16th of this year while another backup date has been created for September 23rd since the promotion wants to host a show in Las Vegas. Despite this, the promotion is now said to be considering pushing those shows back to 2019 as they do not wish to rush into them.
