News on Creative Plans for Jeff Hardy’s WWE Return

As we noted yesterday, it appears as if Matt Hardy will indeed be able to use his “broken” gimmick in WWE as Anthem’s Ed Nordholm recently revealed to Sports Illustrated that the company is restructuring talent deals to allow them to use Impact gimmicks outside of the company.

We also noted that WWE is working on a new version of the “broken” character for Matt Hardy, and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that while not confirmed, Matt is likely to be calling himself “woken” in WWE as opposed to “broken”. The report furthers that when Jeff Hardy returns from injury, which will likely be around WrestleMania time, he too will be using the “woken” gimmick along with his brother Matt.

Jeff Hardy recently appeared backstage at WWE’s Starrcade event over Thanksgiving weekend, and during an interview he provided an update on his recovery from surgery and return timetable. You can check that out at this link.

Big Update On Lio Rush’s Current WWE Status

As we noted earlier today, WWE NXT talent Lio Rush has removed all references to WWE on his social media accounts, which has lead to speculation that he might have been released from WWE.

PWInsider.com is now reporting that despite Rush’s actions on social media, he has not been released by WWE and is still with NXT.
