Moxley Returns to NJPW, Texas Death Match Set for Wrestle Kingdom

The Death Rider has returned to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Jon Moxley marched through the crowd in Hiroshima at Sunday’s World Tag League Finals, shoving aside photographers and Young Lions until he finally came face-to-face with the revitalized warrior of Suzuki-Gun, and one of the scariest men in wrestling today – Lance Archer.

Fans may recall, Moxley was forced to vacate the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship back in October, due to Typhoon Hagibis keeping him from flying in to Japan. With almost zero notice, Archer was thrust into a match against former champion Juice Robinson for the vacant title at King of Pro-Wrestling, emerging victorious.

Mox, fresh off a string of dominant wins in All Elite Wrestling, dropped both Archer and the legendary badass Minoru Suzuki with high-angle Death Riders; the move is called the “Paradigm Shift” in AEW, and the less violent variation was called “Dirty Deeds” in WWE.

Before the night was over, both champion and challenger would end up brawling all around the arena, before finally making their way backstage, still swinging away with wild lefts and rights. In all the chaos, Moxley did happen to officially issue a challenge to Archer for a title match at Wrestle Kingdom 14… a Texas Death Match.
