The summer of royal fun continues with another sport-related outing for the next-gen British royals. This time, instead of the grass tennis courts of Wimbledon, the Sussexes and Cambridges enjoyed a family day out trackside at the polo.

Kate Middleton brought her three children, Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, Prince Louis, one, and Meghan Markle brought her son, Archie, two months, to cheer on Prince William and Prince Harry as they took part in a charity polo match.

Both Prince Harry and Prince William competed, on opposing teams no less, in the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day held at the Billingbear Polo Club in Surrey, a charity day which Kensington Palace posted on Instagram helps raise much-needed funds and bring awareness to a number of charities supported by the two princes.

This playdate at the polo marks the first public playdate the Cambridge children have had with their cousin, Archie, and from pictures shared by royal fan accounts of the day they all looked to be enjoying the family time together immensely.

On a sartorial note, how the two duchesses interpreted the casual dress code of the day was a lesson in their contrasting individual styles.

Kate Middleton, 37, opted for a quintessential casual English summer outing look of a pink silk chiffon print midi dress identified by What Kate Wore as from affordable luxury British brand, L.K. Bennett. The Duchess of Cambridge paired the dress with her favourite cream and tan Castañer wedge espadrilles, a cherry red leather Mulberry shoulder bag, and had her hair blown out in smooth waves.

Whereas Markle, also 37, channelled her Californian roots with her take on casual style, providing an interesting contrast to Middleton’s look. The Duchess of Sussex wore a loose khaki linen maxi dress identified by What Meghan Wore as from New York-based brand luxury swim and lifestyle brand, Lisa Marie Fernandez. The dress reportedly comes with a belt, but the duchess left the belt off the outfit perhaps in a nod to comfort, having only just given birth two months ago. Markle kept the sun out of her eyes with a pair of gold-rimmed aviator sunglasses, reportedly from Stella McCartney and wore her long hair out in a relaxed, natural style with a centre part.

As for the royal kids, the Cambridge princes sported shorts and, appropriately for the event, polo-neck T-shirts, while Princess Charlotte wore a mini-me cotton version of her mum’s pink summer dress. Baby Archie was dressed in a cute, white onesie and looked to be snuggled sweetly up with his mum, Markle, for most of the day.
