Megan Fox is bringing Barbiecore into the year 3000 with her futuristic pink chrome manicure. The actor returned to the red carpet after some time off to celebrate her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover and showed off her new copper red hair alongside the Barbie-in-space mani.
Fox's nails were created by her longtime manicurist Brittney Boyce, who also did her mani for the magazine cover. Boyce applied Après Nail Gel-X Sculpted Almond Long Tips extensions to Fox's nails, then painted them hot pink with French Manicure Gel Ombre in Electric Lolita. Boyce then used silver chrome powder to craft the space age swoops and swirls over the pink, keeping the rosy shade from looking too precious and complimenting Fox's sheer black gown with a low V-neck.
“I asked [Fox] what she wanted to do for nails and she said, ‘I don’t know, manifest something.'” Boyce told Allure of the inspo behind the design. “This is what I came up with: Barbie matte pink with an edgy chrome detail.”
This isn't the first time Fox and Boyce have looked to the stars for mani inspiration. In late April, Fox ushered in Taurus season with her celestial zodiac set, perfect for the Taurean and expert astrologer.
The star is living her best redhead life these days. Though she's brunette on her Sports Illustrated cover, Fox went red earlier this year and debuted the Ariel-inspired color at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. (She didn't walk the carpet for the event, opting instead to just attend the party.) "For Megan's color, we looked through different variations of red. Her eyes are so blue so I knew adding more copper would be the move," her colorist Jacob Schwartz told Allure at the time. For the Sports Illustrated event, Fox wore her hair in a loose bombshell blowout styled by Dimitris Giannetos, who frequently works with the star.
Fox's makeup artist Jenna Kristina stuck to classic Megan elements for the event: a strong brow, soft smoky eye, sculpted skin and a peachy blush to match her fresh color and make her blue eyes blaze. If the Barbie movie gets a sequel, it may be time for Fox to move in to the Dreamhouse.
