Chanel held its annual Serpentine Summer Party to celebrate the Serpentine Pavilion in Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, on June 25. This year’s event welcomed actresses Lena Dunham and Felicity Jones (above), British popstar Ellie Goulding, models Suki Waterhouse and Adwoa Aboah, as well as British ’s editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful. The Serpentine Summer Party is a culmination of art, design, music, film and fashion and is the piece de resistance of London’s summer social calendar.

Junya Ishigami, a Japanese architect, designed this year’s event. Ishimagi is the fourth Japanese architect to be awarded the honour and utilised the surrounding landscape to influence his design to spark the imagination of guests. The design consists of pieces of slate attached by wire to a steel matrix, creating a free-floating Pavilion. With this, Ishigami wished to symbolise what the event has come to represent, “a celebration of free art and free thinking”, and will be open to the public from June 21 to October 6.

Each year Serpentine Galleries hosts the event to raise funds for exhibitions, architecture, and education all the while celebrating the Serpentine Galleries’s work. This year the party was hosted by Chanel and with American billionaire, Michael Bloomberg. After the stars walked the red carpet, they were treated to exquisite Asian cuisine and a performance by British pop band, Years & Years.
