It has been an eagerly-awaited moment for Alexander McQueen fans, but at last the British label has opened the doors to its first Australian store. Conceived by creative director Sarah Burton in collaboration with architect Smiljan Radic, the store, situated in Chadstone Melbourne, explores a new design concept while maintaining its renowned McQueen culture.
Populated by mannequins interacting throughout the setting, the space invites clients to embark on a journey through the label’s universe, experiencing Sarah Burton’s creations from all sides and up close. The store also exhibits McQueen’s values of craftsmanship and visionary design, as a fascination with nature is evident through the curved interior lined in light and dark panels of oak and walnut.
Sarah Burton’s 2010 appointment as McQueen’s creative director has only added to the brand’s array of critically acclaimed designs, with their finest on display at the Melbourne store and framed perfectly by the magical, woody interior of the space. The tension between contemporary and traditional, raw and refined that characterises the house of Alexander McQueen is evident in every aspect of the store, clear though the invention of ‘cotton-crete’, a papier mache cladding developed for the new space.
With clean wooden racks, organic furniture designs and floor-to-ceiling wall art, the Melbourne store appears to slide effortlessly into an Australian style while maintaining its British charisma. And now, McQueen fans in Australia have the chance to shop from the acclaimed house fully immersed in the atmosphere of the label.Click Here: online rugby store malaysia
