— Last night on Raw, WWE announced the first two matches for next month’s SummerSlam PPV. Brock Lesnar will indeed defend his Universal title as his advocate Paul Heyman appeared and accepted Kurt Angle’s ultimatum that Lesnar must defend his title at the event. The challenger will be determined next week depending on the winner of the Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley match. As we noted yesterday, there have been rumblings that somehow the main event will turn into a triple threat between the three.
— Also announced for SummerSlam is Alexa Bliss defending her WWE Raw women’s title against Ronda Rousey. While still “suspended”, Rousey appeared on last night’s Raw and attacked Bliss again, prompting GM Kurt Angle to extend her suspension for another week. However, despite that, he still booked the title match for SummerSlam.
— Charlotte Flair revealed in a recent interview that she is expecting to be cleared from breast surgery by July 31, which would put her on track to wrestle at SummerSlam, barring any setbacks. The plan all along was for her to miss Extreme Rules but be back in time to be worked into a SummerSlam storyline.
