The La Liga club is demanding that Neymar pay back the loyalty bonus he received in October 2016 – the amount hasn’t yet been specified – and are also demanding that the 25-year-old pays the club 8.5M€ on top of the loyalty bonus.

Barcelona are also claiming 10% more from the €8.5, for “moral prejudice” according to an official club statement that was released on the clubs official Twitter page and website.

“FC Barcelona has sent the Spanish Football Federation the labour lawsuit against Neymar Jr they submitted on 11 August at the Labour Tribunal in Barcelona,” read the official Club statement.

“In the lawsuit, the Club demands the player return the already paid sum for his contract renewal as he has not completed his contract; 8.5 million euros in damages; and an additional 10% because of delayed payment. The Club also requests that Paris Saint-Germain take on responsibility for the payment of these fees if they player cannot do so himself.”

This news comes hours after Neymar criticised the current Barcelona board claiming that they shouldn’t be running the club, but this kind of action from the Catalan club will only lessen their image on the world stage, with the immediate reaction to this news being overwhelming negative.
