L’Équipe reported yesterday that Ligue 1 strugglers Caen have been forced to abandon their pursuit of Moroccan international defensive midfielder Romain Saïss, who has all of a sudden found regular football with Premier League side Wolves.
The 28-year-old is under contract with Wolves until 2020 and the Normandy side felt they had a chance to land him, but that has now been extinguished.
They have since turned their attentions to 26-year-old Jimmy Giraudon, who is currently under contact at Ligue 2 outfit ESTAC Troyes. Giraudon, whose deal also runs until 2020 has typically been a central defender but has recently re-positioned as a defensive midfielder to great effect.
