Just a few days ago, 27 schools in Delhi were given “trans-friendly” certification. Earlier, the heads of the schools were sensitised on transgender identity and right and the needs of transgender students.
The project ‘Purple Board’ aims at making education accessible to transgender and gender non-conforming students by eradicating transphobia and bullying.
However, all is not well.

According to a recent survey of more than 400 LGBTQ+ students by the United Nations’ cultural agency, UNESCO, more than half of them skipped classes to avoid bullying, a third of them dropped out of school ultimately.
