Supermodel, body positive activist and businesswoman Ashley Graham, has announced she and her husband of nine years, filmmaker Justin Ervin, are expecting their first child.
The 31-year-old model and her husband announced their happy news on Instagram on what Graham shared was their ninth wedding anniversary.
“Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life. It has been the best journey with my favourite person in the world!” The supermodel wrote on Instagram. Adding: “Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ️ Life is about to get even better.”
The model’s caption was posted alongside a selfie video featuring the parents-to-be in which they reveal Graham’s cute baby bump while saying “Surprise!”.
Ervin’s skills as a filmmaker are on full display during the video, with the first-time dad-to-be taking charge of the phone to record the video, and making sure it’s at the best possible angle before the big reveal. According to Ervin’s IMBD page, the filmmaker has worked on a couple of documentaries, shorts and TV series in a variety of roles including director, producer and cinematographer.
In a 2017 interview, Graham revealed she and Ervin met at church for “Porn Sunday” – a day which the body positive advocate reportedly explained as “where ex-porn stars came in and talked about how their life had been changed by church and God.”
The model reportedly shared further details of their meet-cute in her 2017 memoir, A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like, noting she was on elevator duty at the church event when Ervin and a friend entered the elevator and apparently one of them said “If you don’t talk to her, I will.” The friend then departed, Ervin stayed to chat, and nearly a decade of marriage later they’re expecting their first baby together.
The proud dad-to-be also took to his Instagram account to share their news, posting a picture of themselves holding a sonogram snap of their baby along with the following sweet caption: “To my forever love and my daily inspiration. Happy anniversary @ashleygraham. These 9 years have played out like a lifetime. I guess it’s because my life really started once you came into it. Now that we’ve made a life together, let’s make a life together. I love you and I love us. All of us…”
The couple haven’t yet revealed when their bundle of joy is due, but we’ll update this story when they do.
