As two of the world’s most famous royals, there’s no step that isn’t documented for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. So when the news broke this week of the pair potentially jumping ship and moving to the United States, one could imagine why.

A move back to the duchess’s hometown of Los Angeles would make sense, thanks to its celebrity-friendly design and proximity to Markle’s family. But, for now at least, the pair don’t have plans to move anywhere.

However, the royals looking at buying property in Los Angeles. Sources at the Daily Express have confirmed the pair have been looking in Malibu, and according to Vanity Fair (VF), Markle and Prince Harry recently inspected a home in Calabasas — the celebrity-heavy gated community that counts Justin Bieber and the Kardashians are residents — which they liked. “I think the idea is that they will have a property in the States so that they can have a second home to holiday and get away to,” a source told VF

Following a rough publicity summer for the pair, which saw the royals blasted over their use of a private plane, it only makes sense that Markle, Prince Harry and baby Archie are looking for a getaway home. But, actually moving to the States… that seems is unlikely.

The pair currently live in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, a home they revamped and renovated in time for Archie’s arrival, turning the 18th-century dwelling into a liveable family home. Close to London and all royal duties, the home is unlikely to be usurped by a Los Angeles mega mansion — especially considering the many millions of pounds the duke and duchess just paid for it to be restored.

A holiday home, yes. A permanent move to the United States? Definitely not.
