When it comes to finding the perfect pair of jeans, we all have particular styles that we tend to gravitate towards. While some people select certain cuts based on their physique, others let the season’s top trends dictate their denim purchases.
Now, Kendall Jenner has debuted a new trend in denim for your consideration. The model stepped out in Los Angeles wearing an unconventional pair that she managed to make look effortlessly low-key.
Heading out to brunch wearing ’90s-inspired square-framed sunglasses and her hair up in a banana clip, the 23-year-old model showed off a pair of blue back-to-front jeans, complete with frayed seams.
Let’s take a minute to unpack the noteworthy look. At first glance, Jenner appears to be wearing a traditional pair of jeans in a straight-leg silhouette. Paired with a floral Zimmermann crop top and a vintage Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton clutch, the model looks her picture-perfect self.
It’s not until she turns around that you then notice her jeans appear to be on back-to-front. Only they are not, as the style doesn’t have a traditional back. The somewhat confusing pair of jeans is created by Øblanc, a label founded by Parsons-grad Olivia Oblanc.
Per the brand’s website, which boasts a whole range of unique styles of denim, the jeans Jenner is wearing are constructed from two pairs of recycled jeans, ripped at the seams and then sewn together, meaning both the front and back zippers work. Talk about functional.
Vogue US reports that this is actually the second time Jenner has stepped out in the look, having first worn the style in July with a peach-hued cardigan and Prada purse. Retailing at $260, the back-to-front jeans are still able for purchase online here, but we’re betting it won’t be long until the style is sold out.
