The Popeyes chicken sandwich finally made its return to stores on November 3. Last night, just one day after the sandwiches came back, a man was stabbed to death at his local Popeyes after a fight ensued over the meal, Fox 5 reports.
Sources told the outlet that an altercation started between two men because of someone cutting the sandwich line. The fight eventually made its way outside of the restaurant, where a 28-year-old man was stabbed. The stabbing took place at a Popeyes located in Oxon Hill, Maryland, a town right outside of Washington D.C.

Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department were called to the scene to respond to the fight. When they arrived, they found the 28-year-old man in the parking lot suffering from stab wounds. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the man passed away due to his injuries.s
A spokesperson for the department said they have established that the fight was definitely linked to the sandwich re-release. “We have been able to determine, preliminarily, that this is related to the release of the sandwich here at this restaurant,” the spokesperson said: “This individual was in line specifically for the sale of the sandwich when another customer and he got into an altercation and that ended with the victim being stabbed outside of the business.”
There is an ongoing investigation to identify the suspect, but police are hoping he turns himself in. “We are looking for a male, and that male knows who he is,” a Prince George’s County PD rep said. “He knows what he did here tonight, and he needs to do the right thing and he needs to step up and turn himself in.”
