We don’t see much of former Hollywood darlings Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. These days, the Olsen twins spend the better part of their days curating luxury fashion for their shared line, The Row. But prior to their departure from acting, Mary-Kate and Ashley were the dynamic duo behind nearly a decade’s worth of films in the 90s and early 00s.
The Olsen twins famously got their start as the adorable Michelle Tanner on – a character whose memory now lives on in a series of memes. Hot off the heels of the sitcom’s success, the twins parlayed Michelle Tanner’s cuteness into feature length films and dominated fandom in the 90s. At one point, Mary-Kate and Ashley were selling everything from movies and music, to dolls, make-up and a fashion line our tween dreams were made of. The Olsen’s turned their brand into a multi-million dollar machine.
The first of their films featured pint-sized twins with Tanner-esque one liners and enviable cuteness. But as the girls grew up, so too did their on-screen alter egos. Soon, we saw them landing internships, fending off mean girls and of course, bewitching the boys.
Whether they were identical strangers at summer camp, mini matchmakers, or teens caught up in a jewel heist, Mary Kate and Ashley took us traipsing around the world in one comedic adventure after another. In celebration of their success, looks back at a slew of the Olsen’s most iconic films.
