Three Vikings earn national ranking, team receives votes

EDMOND, Okla. – Three Augustana wrestlers appeared in the latest NCAA Division II Wrestling individual rankings as the Vikings also received votes in the team poll. TJ North , Sean Derry, and Jayd Docken all earned top-eight nods in the individual rankings and the Vikings were one of nine teams to receive votes but not crack the top-20.

North makes his debut in the national rankings, moving up to No. 5 at 125 pounds. With a 15-3 record, North makes his move to the national rankings after jumping up two spots to the top ranking in the Super Region 3 rankings. North also holds the top spot in the NSIC at 125 pounds.

At 184 pounds, Derry slides down one spot to No. 8 after starting the season at No. 7. With a 15-5 record on the season, Derry is tied with North for most wins on the season. Derry also checks in at No. 3 in the Super Region 3 rankings and No. 2 in the NSIC edition.

With a perfect record, Docken continues to hold onto his No. 5 billing at 197 pounds. Like Derry, Docken ranks No. 3 in the Super Region 3 rankings and No. 2 in the NSIC version. Docken boasts a 4-0 record on the season with a pair of pins.

Notre Dame (Ohio) owns the top spot for the second consecutive release with the top five teams remaining unchanged. St. Cloud State (fifth) and Upper Iowa (10th) represent the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the top 20 while Minnesota State joins the Vikings in the receiving votes section.

Augustana returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. when they welcome Concordia-Moorhead, ranked ninth in Division III, to the Elmen Center.
