Great news for all Polish fans! After fantastic game, Polish team won over Brazil and booked their ticket to Bulgaria.
The first set was a little bit nervous and rather equal. Poland was loosing some points and then Andrea Anastasi decided to change Zygadlo and Bartman for Zagumny and Jarosz. It was a feeling of a genius. After this move, Poland scored 5 points in a row. In the end Michal Winiarski made a fantastic spike and then Marcin Mozdzonek blocked Brazilians twice, which brought the set number two. That part was dominated by Poland almost all the way. Brazil got close (22:21), but the next two actions belonged to Europeans. Mozdzonek ended the set again spiking a fast attack to the Brazilian court. Bartosz Kurek was the leading figure of Poland hitting the balls over or trough Brazilian block.
In the beginning of a next part, it seemed like Poles had everything under control, but after the first technical time out they made some simple mistakes and Brazil caught a new breath and treated their rivals with a long series of 6 points. After that it got only better to Rezende and his players (at some point it was 19:12 Brazil). We could see that there is nothing left after the injury of Leandro Vissotto, who spiked wonderful in this game. After the 20th point, Poland managed to reduce this difference, but it was too late and Brazil won their first part.
The fourth set was excellent volleyball from both teams. Poland took a two point lead at 16-14 and controlled the match from that on. Brazil could not come any closer and Poland won the set 25-22 with a strong attack by Zbigniew Bartman, who played the last two sets brilliantly.
Brazil – Poland 1:3 (23:25, 22:25, 25:21, 22:25)
Now Poland is the first team next to Bulgaria, which can be sure of their place in Sofia. Brazil also has a great chance to qualify as the best team on the second place, but they have to wait until the competition in the other pools come to the end.
