Getting married in Château de Tourreau near Provence, France just last month may seem hard to beat, but newlyweds Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have proven it can be done, embarking on the honeymoon of a lifetime in the Maldives.
The 23-year-old Game of Thrones star and 29-year-old Jonas Brothers band member have taken to Instagram to document their getaway, electing to spend their honeymoon at five-star holiday resort Soneva Fushi.
The hotel, which sits on its own tropical private island within the Maldives region, is a premiere holiday destination, renowned for its luxury villas and incredible azure waters.
Soneva Fushi—there are several hotels under the Soneva family, including Soneva Jani and Soneva Kiri—boasts unparalleled service, incredible dining experiences and a host of activities both above and underwater, including spa treatments, glassblowing classes, snorkelling with manta rays, sunset dolphin cruises, paddleboarding, diving and many more.
As Jonas’s Instagram gives away, some of the restaurants—the one in Jonas’s Instagram is the Vietnamese and Indonesian spot Out of the Blue—can be exited via waterslide. And, as if that wasn’t impressive enough, the seaside restaurant is just one of over six eateries on the island, which feature Japanese, Mediterranean, South Asian and Nordic cuisines.
Besides enjoying the food offerings on the island, the happy couple’s images reveal serene strolls on Soneva Fushi’s white sand beaches, bicycle rides in and amongst the island’s trees, and hours spent laying in front of the sun, no doubt relaxing after not one, but two wedding festivities in France and Las Vegas.
And, in contrast to the formal dress codes of each of their celebrations—Turner sported a Bevza jumpsuit to their Las Vegas reception, while her custom Louis Vuitton gown she wore in France took over 350 hours to make—Turner and Jonas can be seen looking casual and make-up free in simple swimwear and colourful sunglasses.
For those interested in staying at Soneva Fushi, or those simply curious about how celebrities honeymoon in style, it’s worth crunching the numbers before considering a stay here.
Accommodation on the stunning island is divided into a sunset side (which is optimal for snorkelers) and a sunrise side (where villas offering more privacy include uninterrupted ocean views ideal for early risers).
While villas start at a cool AUD$2034 per night, staying at one of Soneva Fushi’s most luxurious residences will set you back at least AUD$15,220 per night. And, while it hasn’t been confirmed yet, if their wedding celebrations are anything to go by, our money’s on Turner and Jonas staying in the best villa the hotel has to offer.
Oh, to be a Hollywood star on a honeymoon.
