If Coachella is the flower crown of the international festival circuit, then Glastonbury is the gumboot. Traditionally plagued by unpredictably British weather, festival goers at the five day musical extravaganza have to think about practicality, as well as their sartorial statement. This year had Stormzy, Lauryn Hill, current Vogue cover star Billie Eilish, Lizzo and even Jeff Goldblum and his band playing the theme song to Jurassic Park. Plus fashion favourites like Dua Lipa and Alexa Chung in the audience. And then there was the fashion. Here are our standout style stars of the festival.
Miley Cyrus
The pop singer went full blown rock star, and paired a surprising set list (that saw a cameo from dad Billy Ray) with a stellar wardrobe. A custom Gucci belt (emblazoned with the word ‘Glastonbury’) topped black patent pants and a white crop top. She also piled on likely the entire contents of her jewellery box, mixing gold and silver metals with turquoise, an oversized Chanel necklace and a Dior choker.

Kylie Minogue
The Australian-born singer’s set was emotional. She was due to play the festival in 2005 but cancelled owing to her cancer diagnosis. So this opportunity wasn’t going to go by without a lot of costume changes. She wore a couture Kolchagov Barba dress inspired by her famous gold hot pants, and sung an acoustic rendition of Can’t Get You Out Of My Head with Cold Play’s Chris Martin dressed in a shiny red boiler suit. Her best look was undoubtedly the pink lace ruffled dress she wore to sing Where the Wild Roses Grow with Nick Cave.

Billie Eilish
The 17-year-old singer’s signature androgynous baggy style took a high-fashion twist during her big moment on The Other Stage at Glastonbury. Her Nike PSNY Air Force High sneakers and colourful two-piece by Stella McCartney (and emblazoned with a logo from Stella’s dad Paul’s band, The Beatles, on the back) and graphic logos down each sides was bold enough to grab attention.
Lauryn Hill
The singer inspired a full Glastonbury singalong when she belted the Fugees’ classic Killing Me Softly With His Song, wearing high-waisted white pants, a sheer black-ruffled top with extra long sleeves, a black hat with a pearl chain strap and pearl earrings.

Pixie Geldof
The English model and singer chose a simple uniform of leopard-print pants and lace-up black boots to enjoy the show. She layered up on delicate jewellery, and slung a bag from purveyors of fine Wellingtons, Hunter, across her body.
Anne-Marie
The British singer hit the stage as the weather got uncharacteristically warm. She decorated her strapless white mini dress with a Chanel chain belt, and her chic blonde bob with a Chanel hair clip and earrings.
Vanessa Kirby
The Crown actress matched with Pixie Geldof’s Hunter bag, but accompanied hers with the matching Hunter gumboots. She added a simple black top and lightweight black floral pants to the mix for stomping between stages.
Janelle Monáe
Monáe’s signature high energy performance was only punctuated by her patterned red, white and black printed power suit. She paired a theatrical performance with activism, and finished her show by climbing down from the stage and rubbing Glastonbury soil on her face.
