As of late, trusted reporter and bonafide royal expert Katie Nicholl has been the woman responsible for keeping the world up to date on all things Meghan Markle, as the new mum takes a break from the public eye while on maternity leave.
From letting us in on the significance of the name Archie, to schooling us on why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to turn down a royal title for their son, there is no denying Nicholl knows a thing or two about the British royal family. Therefore, when she talks, we listen.
In her most recent interview, Nicholl touched on Markle’s rather low-key postpartum fitness routine while talking to . Revealing that the new mum, who gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6, is avoiding anything too strenuous, the royal reporter confirmed: “she hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape. It’s only four weeks really since the birth and she’s been taking that exercise regime very gently, indeed.”
“Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit,” Nicholl continued. “She was very into her fitness regime. She used to run around the park in Kensington, but she has been taking it easy.”
Sharing that Markle has not been visiting a gym, doing any hard training or lifting any weights, Nicholl shared that “it’s been a natural embracing of motherhood,” adding: “the whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle.”
“Apparently Doria took up postpartum yoga and baby yoga, and that’s all Meghan has been doing,” the royal expert continued. “And lots of proud walks around Windsor Great Park, so, gentle exercise… she’s apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape. She’s enjoying this time. She’s being gentle to herself.”

Nicoll also touched on Markle’s first public appearance since the press conference that took place just days after Archie’s birth. Revealing why the duchess appeared rather weary at Queen Elizabeth II’s Trooping the Colour celebration on June 8, the royal expert confirmed: “Meghan’s been up in the night nursing, feeding on demand every few hours. Apparently he’s a hungry little baby.”
