In a case of mistaken identity, a family wrongly identified the body of a 40-year-old drunken man, who had died after falling off stairs, in Galta Gate on Friday morning. The family members were taking out the cremation procession when the real person appeared before them and said he was alive.
Vijay Prakash, a drifter, said that he woke up on Friday morning and saw that his nephew, Suresh was heading out somewhere, “I asked Suresh where he was going. He looked shocked and replied that he was going in my cremation. I was taken aback and asked him how could you arrange for my cremation when I am still alive,” Prakash said.
The confusion began on Friday morning, when the Galta Gate police found the body of a drunkard, who had died after falling off stairs of a shopping complex. “Vijay Prakash lives near Transport Nagar and is also a habitual drinker. He often passes out around the same shopping complex after drinking liquor.
