Hermès, Alexander McQueen, Céline and Valentino. These are but four of the more than 30 luxury brands housed under Chadstone’s architectural glass-shell roof in Melbourne’s Malvern East. Bringing in $2.2 billion annually, Chadstone is one of the world’s top shopping destinations, with 24 million visitors each year.

The only problem? A lack of luxury accommodation near the centre. But it’s a problem that has just been fixed by the new five-star, $130-million Hotel Chadstone, which boasts views of the city skyline and Port Phillip Bay, a rooftop swimming pool (pictured below), an expansive spa and two restaurants. Assuming you can tear yourself away from the shops long enough for a swim, spa treatment, or gourmet meal, that is.

With an exterior designed by Bates Smart architects and interiors by DWP, Hotel Chadstone is an elegant and calming space with high-end finishes and carefully selected artworks. The lobby features a custom digital art installation, as does the rooftop pool and restaurant. An art and design library (pictured below) treats guests to Hotel Chadstone’s private collection of art, as well as fashion and design items and a selection of beautiful coffee-table books.

The first five-star Australian hotel to receive a 5 Star Green Star Design rating, Hotel Chadstone’s eco-friendliness extends to its restaurant, Pastore, on the ground floor. With renowned Melbourne chef and restauranteur Scott Pickett on the pans, guests and visitors are served breakfast, lunch and dinner from a menu that champions local produce.

“Hotel Chadstone elevates Chadstone’s iconic position as one of the world’s best lifestyle destinations, bringing together retail, dining, entertainment, tourism, business and now accommodation,” says Grant Kelley, CEO of Vicinity Centres (Hotel Chadstone’s parent company).
