Mathieu Debuchy set to accept Aston Villa loan

According to L’Équipe, Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy is set to accept a loan move to Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

At the beginning of the January transfer window, Mathieu Debuchy was hoping to join a club that was playing continental football, which was the case for the clubs that were interested in him in Italy and Germany.

However, after a distinct lack of concrete offers and the falling apart of a move to AS Roma as a result of the sacking Rudi Garcia, Mathieu Debuchy has decided that a move in the Premier League is perhaps his best bet.

As a result, Debuchy is edging closer to a move to Aston Villa, who are the side with the most persistent in their interest in the Premier League in the player at the time of writing.

Mathieu Debuchy must receive regular playing time if he is to stand a chance of making France boss Didier Deschamps’ squad for EURO 2016.

At Aston Villa, Debuchy is virtually guaranteed playing time as opposed to his bench-warming status at Arsenal after losing his place in the starting XI to Hector Bellerin.

If Debuchy does join Aston Villa, on what would be 6 month loan with no buy option, then it is all dow to Remi Garde’s courting of the player.

Debuchy to Aston Villa, closer than ever before.
