It’s official, 32-year-old business owner and mental health advocate, James Middleton, is off the market. Kate Middleton’s brother, who co-founded personalised gift delivery service Boomf in 2013, took to Instagram over the weekend to announce that he’d asked his girlfriend, 30-year-old financial analyst, Alizee Thevenet, to marry him – and she said yes.
“She said OUI,” Middleton wrote alongside a post that pictured himself and Thevenet in an embrace on Instagram (above). “Our secret is out but we couldn’t be happier to share the news,” he added. Given that the post’s location was tagged in the Lake District, it seems he popped the question by the water in North West England.
In the post, which was followed by a series of rather adorable Instagram Stories that featured the pair kissing underwater and posing together in beekeeping uniforms, Thevenet was sporting a rather large sapphire ring, which closely resembled the sapphire and diamond one Prince William gave Middleton’s sister, Kate, in 2010.
Friends and fans of the couple were quick to flood the comments section of the post with well wishes. While neither Pippa Middleton, nor the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have commented on the news, Princess Beatrice’s fiancee Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who also popped the question just over one week ago, wrote: “Adorable – congrats guys!” And, Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas added: “Congratulations!!”

While French-born Thevenet has been living in Britain for six years now, the Daily Mail reports she only recently moved in with Middleton in West London. Per her LinkedIn page, she spent her years growing up in Germany, Indonesia, Chile, France, Belgium, and England, and can also speak three languages: English, French and Spanish.
She loves dogs
The Daily Mail has reported that, according one of the 30-year-old’s friends, Thevenet met Middleton after she stopped to greet his Cocker Spaniel, Ella (above), at South Kensington Club approximately 15 months ago. Per the publication, the insider shared that “after Alizee went back to her table, James asked the waiter to give her a note saying: ‘I never normally do this, but would you like to go for a drink with me?’”
Evidently, Thevenet said yes and just weeks later, they went out on a date. “It wasn’t until after they’d met for a drink that Alizee realised who he was. One of her friends had to tell her,” the source told the Daily Mail. “They met thanks to Ella.”
Her father approves of her relationship
Hello reports that Thevenet’s father, Jean-Gabriel Thevenet, confirmed to the Daily Mail that he is “very happy” his daughter is with Middleton and he has “a lot of admiration for the whole Middleton family.”“James is a very charming man,” he reportedly told the publication. “I am very happy that Alizee is together with James. I know she is very happy. We keep our fingers crossed for them,” he added.
She is named after a tropical wind
Jean-Gabriel Thevenet also shared with the Daily Mail that his daughter is named after a tropical wind reportedly known as Alize in French. “My daughter is named after my first love which is wind-surfing and the Alize wind that fills the sails,” he confessed in a recent interview.
