WWE has released their documentary on the post-9/11 episode of SmackDown:
“In the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, as terror and tragedy dominated the media landscape, WWE provided a beacon of hope with a live edition of SmackDown,” WWE wrote. “This documentary explores the preparation of the historic event that brought unity to a country when it was needed most.”
The post-9/11 SmackDown took place at the Compaq Center in Houston on September 13, 2001.
The documentary is also available on Peacock. It’s narrated by Fox Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and includes interviews with Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Steve Austin, Paul Heyman, Bruce Prichard, Lilian Garcia, Edge, Kurt Angle, and more.
One day before the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, WWE will be in New York City for tonight’s SmackDown. The show is taking place at Madison Square Garden and will feature an appearance by Brock Lesnar, Edge vs. Seth Rollins, The Usos vs. The Street Profits for the SmackDown Tag Team titles, and a contract signing for Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair’s SmackDown Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules.
