As seen at Raw 25 the week before WWE Royal Rumble, former WWE Diva Terri Runnels was one of the numerous women to make her TV return to the company for an appearance on the special.
On the most recent edition of her podcast, “Cigars, Scars and Superstars with Terri Runnels”, Runnels was very critical of the way the women of WWE were used on the show, and added she was “disappointed” with the women’s role on the show being relegated to a mere wave from the stage. Runnels had the following to say, h/t to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter for the transcription:
“I wanted a brief moment, some sincerity, and I didn’t like that it went straight to this cartoon crap. I felt like [WWE had] a lot of talent and we are just standing there waving.”
Runnels added the women rehearsed their segment at 11am on Monday morning and were informed after rehearsal that they would not be used in any other role on the show. “We all kind of dropped our jaws and were like, ‘you’ve got to be kidding me,’” Runnels said. “I didn’t hear anyone express anything different than what I just said to you.”
