In the latest installment of Victoria’s Secret model engagements this year—with Lais Ribeiro saying yes to her now-fiancé, Joakim Noah, mid-Burning Man trip earlier this month—Grace Elizabeth is too entering the engaged VS gang after her partner, Nicolas Krause, popped the question.
Revealing the exciting news—perhaps accidentally—in a behind-the-scenes video which followed the model getting ready for the Moschino show during Milan Fashion Week, the model realised that she was indeed engaged when talking about learning Krause’s native tongue.
“I’m also trying to learn German. My boyfriend,” she told Vogue in the video, before correcting herself, saying “… my fiancé”, showing us her ring finger on her right hand to give us our very first look at her engagement ring, and subsequently break the news of her major relationship milestone.
And just like all of us, she jumped and screamed for joy after her reveal, exclaiming “yes!” and pumping her fists in the air at her own happy news, with viewers of this seemingly casual behind-the-scenes clip being the first to learn of the model’s happy news.
Continuing, Elizabeth went on to recount the story of how her now-fiancé proposed. “So, his family has a houseboat, and he put lights all over it and candles, and brought us dinner out there, and wine. And we had wine, and food, and music and we danced, and he twirled me around three times, and then went down on one and knee and said ‘will you do me the honour of being my wife’. I said ‘are you sure? Is this a joke? Are you sure?’”
Of course, as we know now, she said yes! And again, exactly as we would do, what followed the proposal was “lots of screaming, lots of crying, and more crying.”
The video also gave us a little peek into the model’s relationship with her newly-minted fiancé, embracing each other and exchanging “I love you’s” as she left to get runway ready.
Elizabeth and Krause have managed to remain pretty low-key throughout their relationship, appearing at a relatively minimal rate on each other’s Instagram feeds. But from what we can gather from said social media posts, the couple first started dating around early November last year, making their public debut at Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween celebration.
The model also tends to keep mum on the details of her romance with Krause, declining to divulge any of his personal details—after some light research, we discovered that he is a professional soccer player for German club FC Brandenburg—with the model only mentioning him in a single interview (again, the result of our research).
“He is handsome,” she told Porter back in February, “I love my German.” Declining to give much more information, what she did say was that being a jet-setting model in a relationship requires a lot of communication. “You have to be spontaneous,” she said. “You have to be able to say, ‘I’m coming to see you at 10 o’clock when I land.’”
So herzliche glückwünsche to the happy couple!—FYI, that’s ‘congratulations’ in German.
