On the second day of the Sussex family’s royal tour of South Africa, Meghan Markle stepped out in a chic denim jacket that went on to immediately make headlines, with the young royal looking to be the first to wear the style while on an official trip.
The Duchess of Sussex sported the ever-popular street style look while joining Prince Harry at Monwabisi Beach for a visit to NGO Waves for Change, a program that helps youth struggling with various mental health-related issues.
According to a post from the official Sussex Instagram account, the surf therapy program sees “hundreds of young people from Cape Town’s townships meet every week at Monwabisi beach to surf, but also share stories with mentors and talk through the daily challenges they face.”
Per the social channel, the duke and duchess were also “able to hear how the sessions are building trust, confidence, and belonging, and they also got to join in as children took part in ‘power hand’, which teaches them how to keep calm down reflect on strengths.”
If you’re wondering whether or not you can get your hands on Markle’s denim jacket, the answer is yes. Available from Madewell for an affordable AU$188.30, we have no doubt the “Meghan Markle effect” will see to instating a sell-out status on the item soon enough.
The duchess paired what has become a rather history-making jacket with black Mother jeans, Le Specs sunglasses tucked into a white shirt by friend Misha Nonoo, a Madewell tote bag, and a pair of tan flats.
While it shouldn’t come as such a surprise that Markle pushed the boundaries with her most recent look, it’s interesting to note that the royal has also followed in Kate Middleton’s footsteps and opted to start wearing some of her favourite looks while on tour.
