On September 6, Coach launched an experiential pop-up shop amid the already buzzing atmosphere that is New York Fashion Week. The temporary store—which celebrates the brand’s authentic approach to design, in addition to its 78-year strong legacy in leather craftsmanship—was purpose-built for customers to experience the its new bag collection dubbed The Coach Originals.

The launch coincided with the presentation of the brand’s ready-to-wear spring/summer 2020 collection, which also displayed a special edit of the Originals range housed in the pop-up.

To celebrate the new release, Coach hosted an intimate preview for VIP guests—including Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira, Rainey Qualey, Elsa Hosk, Tali Lennox and Lucky Blue Smith—who were entertained by a DJ set courtesy of Quincy Brown.

Given a chance to tour the interactive, vintage-inspired pop-up located inside Coach’s Madison Avenue store, attendees experienced creative director Stuart Vevers’s inclusive and modern approach to authentic American style first-hand, previewing the entire Coach Originals collection before the public had the chance to lay their eyes on it.

Including both vintage and new styles, each bag in the newly-launched range falls into one of three categories: ‘Restored’, ‘Remixed’ and ‘Remade’.

As the name suggests, the Restored bags will feature beloved Coach styles which have been expertly cleaned, conditioned and restored. Remixed bags, however, will included a limited-edition series of one-of-a-kind designs that have never before been released—specially made by the brand’s craftspeople who have borrowed inspiration from a number of vintage Coach releases.

Finally, the Remade series will feature archival styles (some even inspired by the brand’s first-ever creative director, Bonnie Cashin) reimagined to pair with Vevers’s playful and unpretentious design traits.

The Coach Originals is both nostalgic and new,” said Vevers. “I wanted to create an experience that is unexpected to celebrate our heritage in a colorful, playful and irreverent way.”

In addition to the exciting new drop, the pop-up also features an exhibition of the brand’s iconic bags throughout the decades, as well as the ‘Coach Rented’ service which allows customers to rent an authentic vintage Coach bag, and ‘Coach Create’ an existing personalisation service which invited clients to customise their leather goods.
