1/23/17 WWE SmackDown Live House Show Results from Saginaw, MI

– The card was tweaked a little from what was advertised , originally it was to be
Styles vs Ambrose for the World Title and Kane vs Bray Wyatt. Then it was updated to
Styles vs Ambrose in a Champion vs Champion Street Fight, American Alpha vs
Wyatt/Harper for the SD Tag Titles, and Alexa Bliss vs Becky Lynch for the SD
Woman’s Title. Well as always, the card is subject to change and here is what went
down.

Match 1) Rhyno & Heath Slater defeated Breezeango when Rhyno pinned Tyler Breeze
after hitting the Gore. Good opening match and With Rhyno being from MI, the crowd
was behind Him and Slater.

Match 2) Baron Corbin defeated Kalisto following the End of Days. Corbin got a mixed
reaction and Kalisto was pretty over with crowd. They went back and forth a bit but
Corbin ended it fairly quickly. Curt Hawkins came to the ring after and challenged
Kalisto to a match, while he was still selling on the mat after the loss which led
to the following match.

Match 3) Kalisto pinned Curt Hawkins with a small package in 5 seconds.

Match 4) Jack Swagger & Mojo Rawley defeated The Vaudevillians via submission when
Swagger made Aiden English tap out to the Ankle Lock.

Match 5) American Alpha defeated The Usos, Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper, & The Ascension
in a Fatal 4-Way to retain the SmackDown Tag Titles following the Grand Amplitude on
Jey Uso. Lots of action in this one and finishers to clear the ring with Bray
hitting a Sister Abigail on Jey. The Alpha were over and The Wyatts came out to a
nice pop.

Match 6) Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch & Naomi defeated SmackDown Woman’s Champion Alexa
Bliss, Natalya & Carmella (w/ James Ellsworth) following the the Rack Attack by
Nikki on Natty. Yet again another tag match tonight and the Ladies that won had a
good reaction.

The Miz came out with Maryse and cut a promo in ” Rick Rude” fashion by calling
the crowd Sweat Hogs and down talking Saginaw, saying Cleveland is better and how
he will beat Apollo Crews.

Match 7) The Miz (w/ Maryse) pinned Apollo crews with a small package when Maryse
distracted Crews.

WWE Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles cut a Extremely good heel promo to a big
pop and some boos, about how he is the face that runs the place, refuses to put
his World Title on the line and how he shouldn’t have to defend his title tonight
because he has beaten Ambrose many times before. Styles challenged Him for the IC
title then Ambrose came out and accepted the challenge.

Main Event : Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose defeated WWE World Champion AJ
Styles to retain the IC Title when AJ attempted a Phenomenal Forearm, then Dean
countered with a kick and Dirty Deeds for the win. Solid match with lots of action
and near falls. Afterward, Dean celebrated with the fans. Both AJ and Dean were over
as well.

Overall a solid show with an excited crowd all night and The Dow Event Center was
90 % full. For some reason the main event had regular stipulations instead of the
advertised “Street Fight” but despite the fact it was still an awesome match. WWE
pretty much played the same gimmick as the Raw House Shows recently ( before
Reigns lost the U.S title to Y2J) where Owens would refuse to defend his Universal
title against Roman Reigns by talking to Stephanie McMahon earlier in the day and
instead the US title was at stake, With Reigns winning the series of House show
main events.
