What is it about a plant-covered building that alights our senses and delights us so much? Perhaps it’s the ultimate bridge between natural and man-made beauty, because there’s nothing that delights us more than gazing upon trailing autumn branches over a Brooklyn brownstone or bunches of lavender-toned wisteria drooping over a stern Victorian façade. In fact, the appeal of a photogenic house exterior is so widely shared, it’s begun to irk the residents of one particularly ’grammable Paris street. And it doesn’t stop there.

Earlier this year, we shared a beguiling photo of a wisteria-covered terrace in Kensington by London-based Instagram user Jess Tudd, which garnered a huge amount of likes (above). It had the same effect for Tudd, who first posted the image in April 2018 to viral fame, with the single image tripling her Instagram following. Incredible? Yes, but less so for the owners of such a beautiful home. “I don’t think the owners of this house have had such a positive Instagram year – they have since put up a big spiked gate outside,” writes Tudd on her Instagram. Ouch, point taken.
In any case, we’re hoping that not all house owners share the same reservations as these. While we’re all for respecting people’s privacy, we also know there’s many house-proud folks out there, too.
